FTMO has announced a new direct-access product called the FTMO Instant Account. The pitch is simple: buy an account and begin trading without first completing the usual evaluation. FTMO says the account activates once the purchase is complete, while also warning that its objectives are stricter than its 1-Step and 2-Step Challenges. Read the firm’s announcement before treating “instant” as a shortcut to easy trading.
The practical question is whether the rules match your strategy when trades remain open or profits are uneven. Here is what FTMO has published and what to verify before paying.
What is the FTMO Instant Account?
How does the FTMO Instant Account work?
FTMO describes the Instant Account as “a direct access FTMO Account.” Its announcement says the account activates as soon as the purchase is complete, using the same infrastructure and tools as its existing accounts. That means there is no evaluation phase to pass before the account is made available, according to the official product announcement.
Direct access is not unrestricted access. FTMO says the objectives are stricter than those on its 1-Step and 2-Step Challenges. The account still has loss limits and a consistency condition.
FTMO Instant Account explained for traders
The product is positioned for traders who want to act without waiting for an evaluation. FTMO gives examples such as a trader who already has positions on an active account and wants to separate a new setup, or someone who sees a market opportunity but does not currently have an active FTMO Account. These are examples from FTMO, not a recommendation that every trader needs another account.
The trade-off is speed versus rule fit. Skipping evaluation does not prove a strategy has an edge or remove the risk of losing the fee. Treat it as a different route into simulated trading, not a substitute for testing.
Instant access versus a challenge account
A traditional challenge requires traders to meet evaluation objectives first. Instant removes that step, but comparing access speed alone misses drawdown, daily loss, consistency, reward terms and cost.
FTMO’s Trading Objectives page now lists Instant alongside its 1-Step and 2-Step options. Use that page to compare the product-specific rules rather than assuming that a familiar rule from another FTMO account carries over unchanged.
FTMO Instant Account rules that matter most
What are the published Instant Account limits?
FTMO’s announcement lists a 90% reward, a 3% Maximum Daily Loss, a 10% Maximum Loss described as “intraday trailing balance-based,” a 30% consistency condition, leverage up to 1:100, and account sizes of $5,000, $10,000, $25,000, $50,000 and $100,000. It lists prices from $189 to $3,399. These are the firm’s published headline terms checked on October 15, 2026; confirm the exact terms for your chosen size and currency on the checkout screen.
The headline table is not a trading plan. Actual exposure depends on position size, stop distance, open losses, correlated positions and execution. Maximum leverage is not a suggested position size.
How does the daily loss limit affect open trades?
The Instant announcement states a 3% Maximum Daily Loss. FTMO’s general Trading Objectives page explains that the daily limit is an equity threshold and that equity includes balance, open-position profit or loss, swaps and commissions. It also explains that the 1-Step daily limit is recalculated at 00:00 CE(S)T. Because product-specific terms can differ, check the Instant conditions directly before relying on the details of another account type.
Monitor equity, not just closed balance. Floating losses can push equity through a limit, and a later recovery does not undo a breach. Leave a buffer rather than trading up to the boundary.
What does intraday trailing balance-based Maximum Loss mean?
FTMO describes the Instant Account’s Maximum Loss as 10% and labels it “intraday trailing balance-based.” That wording matters: a trailing limit can move as the account reaches new highs, so the distance between current balance and the breach threshold may change during the trading journey. Do not assume it behaves like a fixed loss allowance measured only from the initial balance.
Read the Instant-specific rule text before purchase. Check what updates the threshold, whether it follows closed balance or equity, and how it interacts with withdrawals or account changes. If unclear, ask FTMO support rather than assuming another product works the same way.
The consistency condition and reward terms
What is the 30% consistency rule?
FTMO’s Instant Account announcement lists a 30% consistency condition. The headline announcement does not, by itself, explain every calculation detail or scenario, so do not infer the exact formula from the percentage alone. Read the terms linked from the product page and confirm how the condition is calculated, when it is assessed, and what happens if your trading results are concentrated in one session.
Consistency conditions can affect strategies that rely on occasional outsized days. If your results vary sharply, model the rule against your trade log before committing money.
What does the 90% reward mean?
FTMO advertises a 90% reward for the Instant Account and says this applies from the first payout. The term “reward” is the firm’s wording for its simulated-trading arrangement; it should not be read as a promise of profit, a guaranteed payout, or evidence that a trader will earn anything. Results depend on trading performance and continued compliance with the applicable terms.
Check payout eligibility, processing requirements, account standing and restrictions. A headline percentage is only one part of the decision: your approach must stay inside the loss and consistency limits and qualify under the written terms.
Does direct access mean the rules are easier?
No. FTMO explicitly says the Instant Account’s trading objectives are stricter than those on its 1-Step and 2-Step Challenges. Direct access changes the path into the account; it does not mean that the account is less demanding. The published 3% daily loss and 30% consistency condition are especially important to understand before choosing it.
Compare the official Instant page with the Trading Objectives page. Focus on rule fit, not just account size or reward percentage. Strategies needing wide floating drawdown or one large winning day deserve extra scrutiny.
Price, account size and the buying decision
How much does the FTMO Instant Account cost?
FTMO’s announcement lists a price range from $189 to $3,399 across the account sizes shown. That range is not a quote for every size, platform or currency combination. Check the live purchase flow for the exact option you select, the final amount charged, the applicable currency and any terms shown before payment.
Do not choose the largest account simply because the nominal account size looks attractive. The amount paid is a real cost, while the account’s simulated capital is not a cash deposit you can withdraw. Decide what you can afford to lose before checkout and avoid buying several accounts to compensate for a strategy that has not been validated.
Which account size should a trader choose?
Start from the smallest account size that lets you apply your plan realistically, not from the biggest number available. Consider the typical stop distance on your instruments, the amount you plan to risk per trade, how many positions may overlap, and whether normal losing streaks could approach the account limits. Then test the plan using the exact rules attached to that account.
Before purchase, write down risk per trade, an internal daily stop, maximum simultaneous positions and when you stop trading. These are your controls, not FTMO rules, and help prevent pressure-driven decisions.
What should you verify before paying?
Use the official FTMO Instant announcement and the live Trading Objectives page as your starting points. Before confirming the purchase, verify the selected product, account size, currency, platform, price, daily loss calculation, trailing-loss mechanics, consistency calculation, reward conditions and any trading restrictions. Save a copy of the terms shown at checkout.
FTMO’s site currently lists Instant, and its announcement was published October 12, 2026. Availability can change and eligibility may vary by jurisdiction, so confirm the product is offered to you before purchase.
Platform, instruments and eligibility checks
Which platform and currency will you use?
FTMO says buyers choose the account size, currency and platform during setup. Confirm that your preferred platform and currency are available for the Instant product before purchase. Do not assume every option offered on another FTMO account is automatically available here; check the live selection screen and save the final order summary.
Is the product available in your country?
FTMO’s website states that the information on its site is not directed at residents of any country or jurisdiction where its distribution or use would be contrary to local laws or regulations. Check the firm’s current eligibility and terms for your location before paying. A product announcement alone does not establish that every person can buy or use the account.
What should you save from checkout?
Keep the order confirmation and a copy of the rules shown at purchase. That gives you a record of the selected account, price, currency and conditions you accepted. If the live purchase flow differs from a summary article, rely on the current contractual terms and contact support to resolve the discrepancy before trading.
A practical risk checklist before you start
Can your strategy survive the loss limits?
Run a stress test using your own trade history or a demo record. Include the worst losing streak, the largest floating loss, commissions and swaps, and any trades that overlap across correlated instruments. The question is not whether the strategy can make the target profit in a good run; it is whether ordinary variance could take equity through a limit before the trade thesis plays out.
Avoid best-case assumptions. If the strategy only works with no slippage and quick recoveries, it is fragile. Use conservative estimates and leave room between your stop and the firm’s threshold.
How should traders monitor equity and drawdown?
Keep the account’s live equity and applicable limits visible while trading. Record the relevant threshold before the session begins, then update your plan when the account’s balance or the firm’s calculation changes it. If you trade more than one position, assess their combined exposure rather than treating each trade as if it were isolated.
Your internal stop should sit inside the firm’s maximum loss line. The firm’s rule is an eligibility boundary, not a loss budget. A personal daily stop can help prevent a bad session becoming a breach.
What is the final go/no-go test?
Before buying, explain the daily loss calculation, trailing Maximum Loss, consistency condition, reward terms and fee. Have a tested strategy and written risk plan. If any rule is unclear, verify it with the firm’s current documentation.
A direct-access product can be useful for a trader who values speed and already understands the constraints. It can be a poor fit for someone still developing an edge or relying on large, uneven wins. The best decision is not the one that gets an account fastest; it is the one whose rules your strategy can realistically respect.

FAQ
Is the FTMO Instant Account available now?
FTMO’s official site published its Instant Account announcement on October 12, 2026, and currently lists Instant among its Trading Objectives. Availability and eligibility may depend on the live purchase flow and applicable terms.
Does the FTMO Instant Account require an evaluation?
FTMO describes it as direct access and says the account activates after purchase. It also states that the trading objectives are stricter than those of its 1-Step and 2-Step Challenges.
Is the 90% reward guaranteed?
No. The 90% figure is a published reward term, not a guarantee of profit or a payout. Eligibility depends on trading results and compliance with the applicable conditions.
Can open losses breach the daily loss limit?
FTMO’s general Trading Objectives guidance defines equity as including open-position profit or loss, swaps and commissions. Confirm the exact Instant-specific wording, and monitor equity rather than closed balance alone.
Should I buy an Instant Account if I am new to prop trading?
Not automatically. First learn the rules, test a strategy and decide whether you can afford the fee. Direct access does not remove market risk or the possibility of breaching the account conditions.
Risk note: A prop-firm account is a paid simulated-trading product, and you can lose the fee. Read the firm’s current terms and assess the risks before purchasing. This article is educational and is not financial advice.
